The North West Regional ILD Network

The North West ILD Regional Network consists of a group of clinicians, specialist nurses, AHPs and radiologists who have a specialist interest in Interstitial Lung Disease. We represent all hospitals in the North West. We meet every three months to ensure our ILD patients get the best quality of care.

Our aims are:

  • To ensure equality of patient access to multi-disciplinary team (MDT) diagnosis.
  • To ensure patients have equality of access to treatments for their condition, clinical trials and lung transplantation.
  • To improve diagnostic accuracy by providing a specialist MDT review for all patients.
  • To set up networks of care so that the majority of subsequent follow up is provided locally.
  • To provide patients with management plans, the provision of which will be provided locally.
  • To provide specialist support and advice to local providers and in difficult cases review the patients annually.
  • Share and disseminate national ILD guidelines.
  • Jointly, to raise standards of care for ILD patients to improve prognosis and reduce disease and treatment related burden.
  • To encourage collaborative research leading to better understanding and treatment of ILD.
  • To develop a regional database to help facilitate patient management, research and clinical trials.
